Indoor facilities across the Mornington Peninsula need urgent updates and expansion. The Mornington Shire has released the Sports Capacity Plan Volume 2 (Indoor Sports), revealing a critical shortage of indoor courts. The report highlights the necessity for 6-10 additional courts by 2036 to support the growing demand for basketball, the most popular sport in our region.

Prioritise the Dromana College expansion as it is cost-effective and timely. Funding this ensures multisport use, benefiting more activities. School-based facilities maximise usage compared to independent venues.
In what ways, other than financial, can Council support your sport or club?
Council can advocate to state and federal governments and provide logistical support, especially for the Dromana College expansion. Engaging with local schools, community groups, and sports clubs to promote and coordinate new facilities’ use will ensure they are well-utilised.
Do you have any additional comments or feedback you would like to share?
The proposed facilities are essential for basketball growth on the Mornington Peninsula. Swiftly moving these projects forward will address shortages and support our community. It’s crucial to design inclusive, accessible, versatile facilities.
